„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
We kept both points home
After a forgettable first period we gained an easy victory against Eszterházy SC tonight.
Our current opponent was in the last, 14th position before today's match. Of course the odds were in our favor, yet the Hungarian one considered the strongest league of Europe, so there are no easy matches. The girls seemingly remained in the dressing room, as we committed lots of mistakes both in attack and in defending as well. The team of Eger was leading deservedly throughout the first 10 minutes (4-5). György László was visibly fed up with the performance and in the 13th minute he invited his players to the bench to express his dissatisfaction. It worked, as Mihály, Ferenczy, Szekerczés and Szalai found the net, which resulted another timeout, this time from the coach of Eszterházy SC (9-6). During the rest of the first half still the spice was missing from the game, supporters could be angry because of missed chances, and even a missed 7m throw, yet Kohász could increase their lead before halftime (16-10).
We did not manage to start the second half well, the first two goals were scored by the visitors, but Ferenczy and Sirián shook things up. Eger fought well and when they had the opportunity, they used their chances. In the 42th minute still they were just 5-6 behind, just like at halfway (21-16). Brettner Zsófia, who was the most effective from the team of Eger got her third two minute suspension and the red card meant that the match finished earlier for her. It stopped the opponent, Kohász had a 4-0 run and got away from ESC (25-16). Soon after the difference grew to ten goals, so György László started to give playing time to all his fit and available players. 17-year-old Koronczai Petra scored her first league goal too. In the last couple of minutes did not go too well, but nobody could take away the victory from the Kohász girls at this stage of the match. They gained an easy 6-goal-victory and stepped up on the league table.
György László: - We started the game very weakly, we were not there in attack and in defending during the first eight minutes. Luckily this did not affect the final result. Positive, that I could give playing time to each my players who are available, I am happy for the two points.
