„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Hopeful until halfway
Our team was leading in the first half of the lead and the girls kept up the pace, in the second one FTC played with less mistakes and turned the game for their favour.
We hosted the silver medalist of the league, Ferencváros in Szekszárd. The odds predicted a clear away victory, yet we were hopeful to play a close game with the green-whites of Budapest.
The first two attacks went well for FTC, but thanks to Szalai, Grosch and Sirián we gained the lead (3-2). Even though we were continuously one up, Ferencváros managed to level the score (7-6). After a timeout from Elek Gábor and a sub at their goal Szemerey saved two important fast breaks (10-10). The opponent gained the lead while being less with a player on the court. , but Kohász did not want to stay behind, they equalized (12-12). Szemerey saved a penalty as well, and although it seemed we could get the upper hand for halftime both Szucsánszki and our homegrown talent, Klujber scored for FTC that resulted a one-goal lead for the visitors (14-15).
After the break Sirián levelled the score for one final time, but Kovacsics hit the net two times, and two suspensions from Szekerczés within three minutes did not help our case. FTC used their advantage well, and after seven minutes into halftime György László invited his players to the sideline (16-20). Lots of mistakes both in attack and in defending caused, that FTC got away quickly, they were "7 up" in the 40th minute (17-23). We did not find an easy way to score, another missed chances and another missed penalty resulted another home timeout at 20-27. The only question was if we could get closer before the final whistle. Although Kohász had their moments Fradi took the well-deserved two points.
