„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Returning home from Érd with points in the pocket
We had to fight hard for it, but we got the long-awaited victory!
The adult women's team of the Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy entered the field as the guest of Érd in the 6th round of NB I. The home team resided on the bottom of the league table before the match, but since the two parties were separated by only two points on the table, it was key for us to get a win.
Our handball players started the match in the spirit of this as well, they quickly took the lead, but the hosts were able to respond to the hits in Dunaújváros (3-3). Érd could not take the lead while being one player up either, after the saves of Wéninger and the hits of Matucza and Borgyos, the home team had to call a timeout in the 11th minute (3-5). During the short break, the opponent also arranged the lines, and were in our back, then, taking advantage of the unsuccessful Kohász attacks, first equalized, and then took the lead in the 21st minute (11-10). Attila Vágó paused the game immediately, and although Kazai's equalizer came right after, but there was still a lot of inaccuracy in our game. Érd thanked this, and they got away by three. Ours started scoring goals one after the other in the last minutes, yet it was just enough to minimize their disadvantage, so the parties marched into the break with a score of 15-14.
So there was something to discuss during the rest between the two halves in the dressing room, we also had to improve in defense and attack to turn the game. It seemed that we managed to switch to another level as ours started the second stage with two quick goals (15-16). The hosts, of course, did not want to get behind, the parties took turns to score goals one by one, sometimes ours other times the home team led by a single hit, but none of the parties could step up from the other (20-20). Our handball players had to play two players down at the waist of the half, luckily they managed this period by getting only one goal and scoring one on the other side. This might have given a boost to ours as in the 50th minute, after the hits of Bulath and Kukucska, Kohász led by two (22-24). However, the hosts did not give up, and although they could get close to one goal, DKKA kept the advantage primarily thanks to the hits of Bulath and Kazai. Finally for the last minutes our advantage grew to four (25-29), so the last minutes didn't bring so much excitement, the fate of the two points was decided. In the end ours could be happy because even at the cost of a big fight, with their 26-29 victory we brought the championship points from Érd! And that's all, what matters!
