Fantastic victory on the last home game of the year
DKKA is a team to be considered this season!
Our team played their last home game in 2022 as they hosted Siófok KC in Dunaújváros in the afternoon today. Tamás Rapatyi raised the attention of the girls to the fact that defending well will be key for the match. That to be proven the supporters needed to wait for 5 minutes for the first goal scored by Szalai, but Siófok hit one too right after. In the 14th minute only 4-4 was shown on the scoreboard.
The bigger problem was that the intensity of SKC's defence grew, and that stopped quite a few of our attacks. Farkas equalized at 5-5, then we needed to do the same two more times, but when Poczetnyik found the way into the net, we were ahead once again. (8-7). This resulted a guest timeout and a well-fought last period of the half after. Beside the goals the number of suspensions were quite large. Despite we led by two in the 26th minute, thanks to a 3-0 run by Siófok they turned the score, and it was only thanks to Nick's last second goal, that the teams were neck in neck at the half (13-13).
After switching sides Borgyos got the advantage for us, but another 3 goals in a row from the visitors resulted that we needed to catch the opponent once again (14-16). Ours did not give it up, they came up with a stronger defending and thanks to our precise finishing we levelled once again, and thanks the hits of Arany and Szalai the guest coach invited theirs once again to the sideline (20-18). At the time it did not help much, as they missed long-shots and penalty-shots, too, and in the 47th minute they were down by 5 goals already (23-18).
Not for long, as they managed to find another shift and thanks to a not so good looking 3-1 period, Tamás Rapatyi called a timeout. The next goal was scored by the opponent, so Poczetnyik's nice strike was really needed. Siófok came then closer again, only two goals separated the sides when ours missed a penalty as well. The final minutes promised lots of excitement as we only had a single goal advantage remaining. DKKA missed their final opportunity to score, so the chance was there for SKC to get a draw, but when they committed a mistake, the fans blew up the sports hall. With this victory we are now 4th on the league table.
