„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Season closing event of the Academy
The management of our Academy considered the past season successful concerning the first team and the results of the youth teams are superb as well at DKKA.
The habitual season closing event of the Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy was held in Campus restaurant. On the dinner not just the members of our first team were present, but the juniors, the youths and co-workers of the team as well. We had the opportunity to welcome some highly respected guests as well; dr. Lajos Dorkota, honorary citizen of Dunaújváros, Gábor Cserna, mayor, dr. István András, rector of the University of Dunaújváros, founding institution of the Academy, the whole supervisory board, our sponsors and members of the city council.
István Szemenyei, executive director of our team emphasized in his speech that the past season can be considered as a fruitful one. The first team re-gained their 4th place and qualified for the EHF cup once again. For the first time ever since our team was founded, the girls managed to be among the best four teams in the Hungarian Cup as well. Meanwhile the youth team finished 2nd behind NEKA among the bests of their age group, the teeners got a 4th place in the league but became the best team of Fejér county. The total number of players and staff of the academy is growing, beneficial partnerships have been established and the academy model with the school and the dorm works as it needs to. It would be a key to advance to a next level to finally lay the foundation of our new sports arena. Certain promises have been made that soon this dream can come true.
Dr. Lajos Dorkota informed us in his speech that more or less 5 billion HUF is available for the new arena, but unfortunately the amount is coordinated from Budapest, so it may take a while until it "gets here". He also added that he is really proud of DKKA, wherever he was in the coutry he has just heard positive feedbacks about the Academy.
Gábor Cserna, mayor of Dunaújváros emphasized that DKKA is the team of the city and it is a great role model for all the other sport clubs. He ensured the people present that the local government will do everything in the future as well to support our Academy where young pupils can evolve.
After the speeches those players were greeted who are leaving the club. Bernadett Hornyák, Panna Gindeli, Szabina Karnik and Viktória Pálinkás continue their career at another team, while Melinda Rácz-Vince has decided to retire after this season. Also coach, Zovko Zdravko returns to Croatia to his home country. Also the list of players signed was announced; Anita Kazai, Fruzsina Bouti, Katarina Tomasevic Luca Dombi, Luca Szekerczés and Orsolya Monori will join the team in the summer. It is also great news that playmaker Babett Szalai has extended her contract with DKKA until 2019. The pre-season will start on 17th July.
