Addicted to handball and adrenaline
The new pivot of our adult team, Sanja Dabevska, offers the maximum in every match.
We continue to bring our newly signed players closer to the supporters. This time you can learn more from Sanja Dabevska who is going to strengthen our team in the pivot position. Can you introduce yourself to the supporters?
Hi everyone, I am Sanja from North-Macedonia I was born in Gostivar I am 24 years old. I started my career when I was 11 years old, in my hometown. Then at the age of 14 I joined the club of the capital city, Metalurg Skopje, I continued my studies there too. From Metalurg I got called up for the Youth National team of Macedonia, and luckily later I was able to participate in the senior team as well. So far I received so far 20 caps, and scored 60 goals.
You are coming to Dunaújváros from Greece, How came the opportunity to join to a Greek team?
We played a friendly game with a Greek team and after the match their President came to me and asked me if I would like to play for them. I received a pretty good offer, and I took it. I had spent just a year at O.F.N. Ionias, but I wanted to try my abilities in a higher level. And I consider the Hungarian league as one of the best, it helps me to develop further and will give me a chance to be more visible. I am eager to get better and I hope this move will assist my future career as well. It is a dream for me to play in the Champions League.
What do you consider as your biggest success that you achieved with your teams that you played in?
I had the pleasure to win the Macedonian league 5 times with Metalurg, and earned two cup titles as well. We had some really good games in the Chalenge Cup either. But if I need to highlight one special result is that last year with Kumanovo, the other Macedonian team where I played, we won the cup of Macedonia. It was special as they were without big successes for a long time before this one.

Despite her young age, Sanja has already achieved countless successes in her home country
What do you think what are your real strengths on the court?
I am a physical player, but this is kind of a requirement in my position. I like to win penalties, and when it comes to take them, I am eager to volunteer. When I play, I tend to give the maximum, I think I can stay focused even in tough situations, and I can motivate my teammates well, sometimes I can get crazy on the court. The most memorable moment in my handball career was a Metalurg vs. Vardar match. It was the last league game of the season while there was just 5 secs left on the clock, I managed to steal the ball and after a run though one side to the other I scored the winning goal for my team.
What do you like to do off the court?
It might sound weird but driving is my biggest hobby. Driving a car especially during the night it relaxes me. But I do like almost everything with full adrenaline like parachuting or paintball. Simple things like running over and over as preparing for a season for example does not excite me, I do not really enjoy it, but when it comes to play a game, I could run all day.
What message would you send to the supporters of DKKA?
From my side I will do my best as always. I just can’t wait the season to finally start.
