„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A clear ETO victory
The Győri Audi ETO KC won 40-22 against the adult team of our Academy at "home".
Due to the breakdown of the boiler in our the sports hall, the adult team of our Academy played the championship match against the defending champion at the home of Győri Audi ETO KC this afternoon. Before the clash, the teams remembered Mihály Bába, who died last night, so our handball players got into the game with teary eyes, all they was hoping for was to play decent game.
The odds clearly were on the favour of Győr, and the defending champion started the match as it suits a favorite: they took the lead in the first minutes and led to 4-2 after five minutes of play. Unfortunately, the continuation did not turn out as ours had hoped, because the "guests" were able to increase their advantage even with one player down after a suspension, and when ETO scored their tenth goal at the very beginning of the 14th minute, Attila Vágó called a timeout (4-10). The defenders and the goalkeeper of the opponent (Glauser) repeatedly showed nice saves, and although Ferenczy broke our long silence, by the time ETO led to 15-5 with ten hits already. The green-whites did not slow down until the break, so at the 10-24 was on the scoreboard.
Unfortunately, the situation didn't change much in the second half. Their new goalkeeper, Solberg, who replaced Glauser, managed to block all our attempts, while the team of Győr scored their goals one after the other on the other side. With a 6-0 run they led 30-10 in the 41st minute. The nearly quarter-hour goalless period of our team was broken by Gréta Horváth, then later Krupják-Molnár, Román and Schatzl also hit the net behind Solberg, but in the meanwhile ETO increased their advantage, and in the end they won with a final score of 18-40 against our handball players.
