„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Victory is what matters!
The championship fights of the season 2021/2022 started for us with a nervous game, but with an important success.
The adult team of our academy was prepared for the first league match of the new season, which, like last year, begun it with a clash against Szombathely. Quite nervously, as Bulath Anita scored the first goal of the match in vain, the guests responded with three hits in a row. Our players played very inaccurately, so it was not at all surprising that Attila Vágó invited his players to the sideline in the 9th minute already. (2-5). After a short break, Kohász organized their defense somewhat, Wéninger, who came in as a substitute, also caught a few balls, and thanks to the useful play of Farkas and Borgyos, they managed to equalize first, then in the 19th minute we got back the lead as well (7-6). The good defense of the Kohász stopped the guests, so ours certainly increased their advantage, but even though we led already by four goals, a three-minute-long bad period which was relentlessly used by Szombathely was enough for them to get back to the game, so the parties marched into the dressing rooms for the halftime break with a score of 12-12.
At the start of the second round, ours got stuck a little again, but they got over it a little earlier than in the first half, and it seemed like they could finally break their opponent with a 4-0 series (17-14). However, one suspension was enough, and in a few moments the visitors were just one behind again and they managed to keep their one-goal disadvantage even in the middle of the half (20-19). Unfortunately, during this period, the Kohász made a series of mistakes, so in vain we had the opportunity to get away from our rival again, we simply could not use our chance. Szombathely equalized a good ten minutes before the end of the match (21-21). Approaching the final period of the game, first Szalai and then Bulath scored extremely important goals, and although the opponent still cought up, Szalai and Borgyos had brilliant moments as well, so even though it was extremely difficult, the adult team of our Academy won the match with a final score of 26-23 and they will continue the league against Budaörs next week.
Attila Vágó: - It was a typical first match, it was like we had forgotten everything we did for eight weeks, everyone was very excited, we were in a lot of hurry, we couldn't play our own game. We were impatient in defense, we jumped out and got avoidable goals, from which we could not run in a way that would have been the strength of the team. Szombathely slowed down the game very well, and we could not perform like we were preparing for. The possibility was there to step away from the opponent three or four times, but due to the mistakes we could not. We gave the guests - who fought excellently - a chance to stay in the match, Fortunately, we couldn't complain about fighting, with bad performance, but we managed to win it, and now that was the most important thing.
