A tough season awaits our team

2017. Sep. 07.
  • Facebook

Both the executive and the professional director of our Academy are looking forward to the new league season that starts on Saturday.

The summer has ended and the preparation period finished as well. The first team of DKKA will play its first game of the season 2017/2018 in two days. The first opponent in the K&H women handball league will be the team of Budaörs. As László György, head coach of the team has expressed, what they expected from the pre-season, they could get it done, this time we were interested, how the management of DKKA sees the team's chances in the upcoming season.

Professional director of the Academy, Bojana Radulovics is just as excited as the members of the team and she hopes that in the seemingly most balanced season ever that awaits Kohász, at the end the girls can manage to finish in the first six.

"It may be not early to state that this is going to be the toughest season so far for as as most of the opponents could strenghten their teams mostly with international players, so the real expectation from the team is to be among the six best teams. It is not going to be a piece of cake as beside the two favorites, Győr and FTC also Érd, Siófok and Kisvárda managed to boost their squad, and also we shall not forget about Fehérvár, Debrecen and Vác, they probably have the same objectives as Dunaújváros, so it will be an interesting and exciting year. Our squad has changed too, beside a goalie with much experience we signed talented young players, we can clearly state that Kohász is in the green. Both past and new members of Kohász are motivated and the "freshmen" could fit in very easily. It might be our strength that the girls are after an intensive physical groundwork and behind the starting seven there are eager youths sitting on the bench. It is important for us, that among the players and between the staff and the players there are no language barriers, it is very unlikely that communication errors will cause difficulties for us which could be a great advandage. Come on, we earn Hungarian forints, so should not we speak Hungarian?! Beside the league, international matches await the team too, here there are no objectives set, we shall go further as long as we can, which of course is necessary for the young players to gain more experiences. Since the re-organization of EHF Cup, this competition is a massive one too. Just to sum it up, I am really excited and I cannot wait for the match of Saturday to happen and I hope that the supporters will see a nice win at the first clash of the season."

István Szemenyei, the executive director of the team rated the season from another important perspective. He shared with us more information better concerning the financial situation of the club. The good news is that according to him there are no things that would make us to worry.

"At the moment 85% of the budget for the upcoming season is ready. The contracts related to corporate income tax have been signed and it seems that we could keep our main sponsors as well. Although it is still our intention to persuade more investors to support our Academy, it is safe to say that we have the necessary financial stability. The circumstences concerning the equipments and the infrastructure have not changed. Of course we were happy to learn about the announcement about our new arena that is going to be built, now it seems we can play most of the season or maybe the whole season at our current sports hall. The construction shall start in the second quarter of 2018 at latest as the third cycle of the work needs to be finished for 2019 which also involves the renovation and expansion of the hall where we are playing now. But this is not actual for now, what is however important that on behalf of the management we really look forward to having a great season."
