Still there are some question marks

In the monthly general assembly of the local municipality Mátyás Gábor, president of Dunaferr SE has been asked to be the executive director of Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy until May 2020. We asked him about the most important tasks that need to be done.

- Our most urgent task is to take a deep look into the current financial and professional situation and unify the two in a way that for the necessary professional work the necessary financial opportunities shall be available. The first aspect is that the lot of children, youth talents the possibility shall be given for continuing their quality development here, but beside this guaranteeing the NB I status of the first team is extremely important. Unfortunate, that this time of the year negotiations should have been already started, extensions, new signings are a priority, but we would like to inspect all the contracts. In general we want to experience no harm in the operation of the Academy.

- The management of the city has made a statement that it remains their intention to provide the Academy with the necessary support.

- Past is the past, I do not want, and it is not my job to deal with what happened here before. I got assured that in the coming time period we will get all the help concerning the finances. We need to act quickly and by the middle of December we need to see everything clearly. Barta Endre, vice mayor for human affairs highlighted last Friday that the municipality is on our side, they want to support the sport of Dunaújváros and within the framework of it the women's handball team of the city in a high level. If it was not like this, we needed to rethink the future, but I think their support will be a stable pillar behind us. 

- Was it conscious that your assignment is just until May 2020?

- This was actually my request. I am here to provide all the necessary support in this temporary period, but in the long run they will need to find somebody else. I took this job as the president of Dunaferr SE which already requires a lot of work, beside this I have other functions in other social organizations and I have a family as well.

- Do you think that reviewing the contracts might lead to changes in responsible personnels at the Academy?

- As I mentioned the most important thing is to stabilize the professional and financial operation here, but to what decisions it will lead, I do not see it now. The financial sources determine a lot of things. Our aim is to keep the current team together, but if this is not going to be possible, we need to find quality replacement. This is not actual at the moment, we need to decide about these a little later, after the negotiations.

- What are the concept concerning the youth teams?

- Similar goals we have. We would like to keep the current standard at least, and to increase our numbers if possible. It is obvious that we would like youth talents to be given the chance among the adults as well, as it was previously the case.

- It turned out that the renovation of the arena will just start in May. Will the adult team return for the home games to Dunaújváros?

- Of course this was also an emerging demand, a fair demand to be honest, but it is out of my reach. This is the responsibility of the municipality, as the owner of the Academy to determine the possibility to play the home games in our Arena. They have a contract with the operator, and they know the conditions. As for me I would like our team to play home. It is also a big question if the technical aspects are provided. As far as I know in case of clear weather everything is fine, but as soon as a slight rain or snow comes, problems occur with the watertight proofing. There are a lots of question marks, but we would like the team to get the best possible out of the current situation.
