„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Back on track, another two points in the pocket!
In an exciting clash, our team gained a 25-23 success in the Hungarian league against MTK thanks to the stable defense and brilliant saves of the goalkeepers throughout the match.
After a very important victory against Érd, another tough meeting awaited us as we hosted MTK that had the same amount of points before the match like we did, not to mention our opponent got qualified for the EHF Cup this year.
Attila Vágó's team was extremely determined for the clash, and this was visible on how they started the contest. Our handball players defended hard, the goals came in front of them, and although after 3-1 the Budapest team equalized, ours had a 4-0 run with Wéninger's saves and the goals of Szalai, Kazai, Weisheitel and Matucza. The visitors’ coach, Vlagyimir Golovin needed to call a timeout (8-4). During the short break, the opponent also arranged the lines, they improved both in attack and defense, they caught our team at 9-9, but Szalai and Šustková quickly managed to regain the advantage (11-9). Then, however, another turn came, because the mistakes made in the attack were mercilessly punished by MTK, and now they scored four goals in a row, with which they not only reversed the score, but got a two-goal advantage for the break (11-13).
In addition, the blue-whites started with a quick goal after switching sides, but of course Kohász did not give up, and with greatly executed attacks, with the hits of Farkas, Szalai and Weisheitel they first equalized, then in the 37th minute he took the lead (17-16). Despite the guests’ timeout call, the home momentum remained, after strikes from Farkas, Šustková and Szalai the difference between the teams grew to three and we could attack several times for a larger lead (20-17). Although we could not get away, the opponent mobilized all their forces in vain, as ours put everything into the defense, so they were able to maintain their two- or three-goal advantage (23-20). In the last part of the game MTK did a great job, coming up to 23-22, but after Bartulović's important save, in addition to Weisheitel's nice goal, Bulath’s power strike decided the outcome of the match that was won by DKKA 25-23. With our fourth success this year we climbed up to the seventh place in the league table.
